Strong Roots, Strong Women: Strengthening capacity of women in Eco-system-based Adaptation (EbA) for sustainable economic development in the Huong River basin

FundingEuropean Union / Global Gateway

Project duration: 1.1.2025 - 31.12.2028

Aim of the project:
Thua Thien Hue province in central Vietnam is facing considerable climate-related risks, which will increase further as a result of climate change and socio-economic development. Storms, heavy rainfall and flooding are significantly affecting traditional livelihoods of the rural population. The project aims to strengthen the role of women in climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction through ecosystem-based adaptation measures. An important part of the project is the further development of a community-run mangrove tree nursery. This initiative contributes to stabilizing the income of local women and improving the ecological condition of the lagoon. Over the next four years, up to 60,000 seedlings are to be grown. Mangroves play a crucial role in reducing coastal erosion and the effects of flooding. The new project phase is funded and supported by the EU Delegation in Vietnam.
