EKLIPS3plus1: Efficient and Climate-Resilient Planning with 3 Urban Digital Twins in 1 Region
Project: Efficient and Climate-Resilient Planning: Visualization Options
Project Duration: 11/2025 - 10/2029
Project Objectives and Scope:
In the EKLIPS3+1 project, the cities of Remscheid, Solingen, and Wuppertal are working together with the Wupper Association to accelerate municipal climate adaptation. As part of a sub-project, the University of Potsdam is exploring the potential of various visualization approaches in urban planning. These visualizations aim to improve the perception of risks and adaptive options among different population groups as well as local administration and policymakers within the real-world laboratories, thereby promoting adaptive behavior and integrating climate adaptation more strongly into local decision-making.
The visualizations may depict both the impacts of extreme weather events, such as flash floods, and adaptation measures, such as greening initiatives or public space redesigns. The Research Group Geography and Disaster Risk Research employs a mixed-methods approach, including household surveys, expert interviews, and focus group discussions, to investigate these questions.
