Transferring from Bachelor to Master (Übergang Bachelor-Master)

1. You are already enrolled at the University of Potsdam and are continuing your studies in a non-teaching-oriented master’s

Regardless of your application to a master's program, you must submit a Notification of Continuation of Studies in a Master’s Program to the Office of Student Affairs. The notification must be submitted within the re-registration period.

In addition, you must pay the semester fee required for re-registration, so that your preliminary re-registration for the bachelor’s can be ensured.

To process your transfer into the master’s program, the following documents must be submitted by May 10 (for the summer semester) or by November 10 (for the winter semester):

  • a copy of your admission notification and the written confirmation of accepting the admission within the time limit for subjects with NC
  • proof of completion of a bachelor’s degree

    • for definite enrollment
      - copy of your bachelor‘s degree certificate or
      - Proof of a Completed Bachelor’s Degree " (obtainable from Central Examination Office) if applicable

2. You are already enrolled at the University of Potsdam, and you are continuing your studies in a teaching-oriented master’s

2.1. teaching-oriented master's (new)

2.2. teaching-oriented master's (old)

(not applicable for master’s degree programs designed for continuing education)

Due to the amendment to the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz – BbgHG) of July 1, 2015, you will be able to provisionally enroll in a master’s degree program as of winter semester 2015/2016 if the necessary proof of a completed bachelor’s degree cannot be submitted by May 10 (for the summer semester) or November 10 (for the winter semester). For preliminary enrollment it is sufficient to submit the "Declaration on Submission of Course Achievements Relevant for the Degree" incl. academic transcript (see also: Annex to "Notification of Continuation of Studies in a Master’s Degree Program"). You may only make such a declaration if all academic achievements have been properly registered, completed or submitted and their evaluation or grading is still pending. You will be provisionally enrolled in a master’s program provided that the other admission requirements have been fulfilled. Applications for enrollment are processed not before October 1/ April 1 unless you have submitted proof of a completed bachelor’s degree earlier.

Please note: If you fail to submit such proof of a completed bachelor’s degree to the Office of Students Affairs by the end of the first semester of the master’s degree program (March 31 or September 30), enrollment shall be revoked retrospectively. The Central Student Advisory Service will inform you about possible risks and consequences of a preliminary enrollment in a master’s program.
