Research Strategy

Internal Research Funding

This internal funding stream (intranet) enables flexible, needs-based support for researchers through targeted individual grants, creating incentives while supporting the university’s strategic objectives.

Early Career Researchers

PhD candidates, postdocs, junior professors, and tenure-track professors receive funding and support through a wide range of programs offered by the Potsdam Graduate School and the Division of Planning, Statistics, and Research Affairs. This includes financial support, career development training, networking opportunities, advisory services, and the tenure-track program.

Teaching and Learning

The University of Potsdam supports teaching and learning through a wide range of initiatives – from the University Scholarship Potsdam and the “Creative Space: Mission Statement Becomes Teaching” program to funding opportunities that enable students to initiate their own projects.

Knowledge Transfer

Potsdam Transfer is the university’s central hub for startups , innovation and knowledge and technology transfer. Through a range of innovative and impactful programs, it supports researchers in translating research findings into practical applications in business and society.

International

The International Office provides information on current internal funding opportunities such as Erasmus+ mobility programs, UP Reconnect, the KoUP cooperation scheme, postdoctoral and Ph.D. exchanges with Tel Aviv, and EDUC calls. It also offers guidance on relevant external funding opportunities (e.g., DAAD, DWIH Brazil, JSPS Japan, or AvH funding for researchers at risk).

Equal Opportunities

Universitätsgesellschaft Potsdam e. V.

The Universitätsgesellschaft Potsdam e.V. – the University of Potsdam’s support organization – provides funding for scientific and cultural projects and supports academic departments in activities such as scholarly publications, event series, symposia, presentations, and exhibitions.
