Who?: The Commissioner for People with a Disability in cooperation with the City of Potsdam and the association pfeffersport e.V.
Target audience:
11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.:  Students and employees of the University of Potsdam
2:00 - 4:00 p.m.: all citizens livig in Potsdam (registration required)

Our vision is one of a city and university in which you, your friends, your fellow students, your family members and every person on Earth can reach all places and goals because nothing stands in the way.

On October 4, 2022, we want to carefully examine our city and our campus together with you. Join us when it comes to changing perspectives!

The quality of life of people with health impairments is crucially shaped by the social behavior of their fellow human beings, their counterparts. People without health impairments, without psychological or chronic illnesses, sometimes behave insecurely towards the impaired and marginalize them unconsciously. A reason for this is often a lack of knowledge and ignorance.

Tour: Get to know your campus from a different perspective…
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

How does a person in a wheelchair get to the library? If one is blind, how do you find the canteen? Explore the campus with us from a different point-of-view and change your perspective with the help of wheelchairs and simulation glasses. On a course, you can try out how seemingly obstacle-free paths feel if you are in a wheelchair or how blind people find their way in an environment that is often only designed for the seeing. We will be waiting for you in front of the canteen on Golm between 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.. Once there, you can spontaneously try out different aids and learn from the experts. Use the time between lectures and seminars to simply make the world you live in a better place by being (quite literally) open for new ways!

Tour: A different kind of city tour
Time: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

How accessible is Potsdam? And exactly where are the obstacles? How does it feel to face an obstacle while in a wheelchair? And what would help me orientate myself as a blind person? Explore Campus Golm and the surrounding area with us in a special kind of workshop. Together with pfeffersport e.V. we will walk and ride a route and get to know our city from a completely different perspective. The tour starts at 2:00 p.m. and will take about two hours. Registration is required using the following link.

For many degree programs, library introductions are already included and do not have to be booked separately. If no library event is planned for your subject during the introductory weeks, you are welcome to register for a course.
