Prof. Dr. Fabian Schuppert

Profil

Fabian Schuppert forscht und lehrt im Bereich Politische Theorie und Philosophie. Seit 2020 ist er Inhaber der Professur für Politische Theorie an der Universität Potsdam, vorher war er Postdoctoral Fellow am Ethik Zentrum der Universität Zürich sowie Senior Lecturer und Direktor des Centre for the Study of Risk and Inequality an der Queen’s University of Belfast.

Fabian Schuppert hat zu einer republikanischen Theorie globaler Gerechtigkeit promoviert und zu Ideen eines sozialen Egalitarismus gearbeitet. Aktuell forscht er zu klimaethischen Fragen, Fragen der Demokratietheorie und Bürger*innen-Beteiligung in Zeiten des Rechtsrucks der Gesellschaft, und Modellen alternativer politischer Ökonomie, sowie (Anti-)Autoritarismus und Dekolonialismus. Zu diesen Themen arbeitet Fabian Schuppert im Forschungsnetzwerk „Just Climate Transitions“ und betreut die „International Research Group on Authoritarianism and Counter-Strategies“, die Forschende aus dem so genannten „Globalen Süden“ mit den Forschungsschwerpunkten (Anti-)Autoritarismus versammelt.

Die Lehre fokussiert sich gegenwärtig auf Einführungsveranstaltungen zu politischer Ideengeschichte sowie zu zeitgenössischem politischen Denken. Außerdem werden in Schwerpunktveranstaltungen klimapolitische Fragen, Phänomene des Neoliberalismus und Autoritarismus, bzw. Widerstand gegen zunehmende Faschisierung diskutiert.
