Advising for Students with Family and Caregiving Responsibilities
Students’ lives are complex – especially when they have to balance academic requirements with caring for children and/or relatives in need of support. These responsibilities can be deeply meaningful and fulfilling, but they can also be challenging and, at times, overwhelming.
Our individual advising sessions offer an opportunity to discuss your questions and concerns related to managing your studies alongside pregnancy and/or family and caregiving responsibilities.
This advising service is intended for:
- pregnant students and their partners
- student parents (including single parents)
- students who provide care for close relatives (e.g., parents, siblings, children, or other family members)
Possible advising topics include:
- pregnancy and maternity protection during your studies
- flexible study options to help balance academic work with family and caregiving responsibilities
- individual equality measures for pregnancy, parenthood, or caregiving responsibilities
- coping with mental load
- part-time study options and leaves of absence
Advising is confidential and can be provided anonymously if requested. You may either call during our open phone advising hours or submit an advising request by email.
