Going abroad with a disability
Neither a disability nor a chronic illness should prevent you from implementing a stay abroad. The possibilities of a stay abroad with a disability or a chronic illness are just as numerous and varied as those of all students with wanderlust and we would like to encourage you to dare the adventure of a stay abroad.
Nevertheless, individual requirements or special needs may need to be considered and the process of planning a stay abroad may need additional care and attention to detail. For example, accessibility of accommodation and host institutions may play a role or additional costs may arise for preparatory travel, accommodation or individual support services. There are a variety of funding opportunities and scholarships.
Below, we would like to give you an initial overview of the various possibilities and support offers for your desired stay - to obtain further information on the respective exchange opportunity, simply click on the relevant section. Below you will find links to our contact details for individual consultations.
„It is perhaps important to know that you can get a lot of support as a student with a disability, but you have to make arrangements for it in good time. This also applies in general: if you take action, are open and show interest, you will get a lot back - whether from hallway neighbours, lecturers or other students. You should get involved in Swedish culture and not just stay in the 'international bubble' if you want to get to know the real Sweden. It's worth it!“
We are happy to be at your disposal for an individual consultation. You can reach us via phone, zoom and by e-mail:
