KoUP LatAm 2026-2027

KoUP-Funding Latin America „KoUP LatAm“ 2026-2027

In addition to the KoUP call for proposals already issued in January 2026, we are hereby issuing another targeted call for applications for funding for activities with the four partner universities for the years 2026 and 2027.

These partner universities or faculties are:

National University of General San Martín (UNSAM), Buenos Aires, ARG

University of Buenos Aires/School of Exact and Natural Sciences (UBA Exactas), Buenos Aires, ARG

University of Buenos Aires/School of Philosophy and Humanities (Filo-UBA), Buenos Aires, ARG

University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Campinas, BRA

University of São Paulo (USP), São Paulo, BRA

This special KoUP grant is awarded with the aim of supporting the sustainable further development of strategic cooperation with the partners.

The application, which can be submitted in English or German, consists of (i) the form (Excel), (ii) a description of the joint project of no more than one page (exposé template). The application must highlight the potential and relevance of the project for the internationalization of the university. The contribution the project can make to this must be outlined. In addition, (iii) a financial plan must be included, which may also include own funds. When applying for travel expenses, the universities/faculties to be visited must be specified. The maximum length of 1 page refers only to the academic exposé (max. 4000 characters). 

Application deadline: Funding is provided without a fixed application deadline as long as the allocated funds are available. However, applications should be submitted at least two months before the project begins.

KoUP Cooperation Grant

  • The KoUP cooperation funding program was established by the Executive Board at the University of Potsdam as a seed money concept to promote international partnerships. The aim of the funding is to initiate international cooperation and to work with partner institutions to develop third-party funding applications for research projects. Current calls for proposals are published on this page at the beginning of December each year, with a deadline in mid-January of the following year.

Postdoctoral and PhD Fellowships UP-TAU (2026/27) | Deadline: 01.05.2026

  • The cooperation with Tel Aviv University includes the exchange of students, researchers, science managers, and technology transfer. For the tenth time, the university is now offering a joint postdoctoral and PhD exchange fellowship in collaboration with Tel Aviv University. The funding will enable a postdoctoral researcher from UP and a postdoctoral researcher from Tel Aviv University to spend time at the partner institution. In addition, the same opportunity is available to doctoral students from both universities. Applicants may come from different disciplines. They will receive a monthly stipend of EUR 2,200 (postdocs) or EUR 1,650 (PhDs) at UP and 7,500 shekels (postdocs) and 5,439 shekels (PhDs) at TAU. The funding will be paid by the host institution. The application deadline is May 1, 2026. Travel warnings issued by the "Auswärtiges Amt" must be observed, as a business trip can only be approved if there are no warnings in place.

UP Reconnect – Return Grant

  • +++ no deadline, applications possible as long as funds are available ++++ The new internal funding program UP Reconnect enables Potsdam scientists and institutes to invite their international research alumni back to the University of Potsdam for a short stay and thus strengthen their cooperation network. The funding includes a travel allowance, the amount is calculated depending on the country of departure.

Mobilities with Erasmus+

  • The University of Potsdam funds teaching assignments at European partner institutions that have an inter-institutional agreement with the University of Potsdam.
  • The University of Potsdam supports and funds mobilities of non-academic employees within the Erasmus+ porgram.
  • Teachers can apply for centrally administrated Erasmus+ funds for Blended Intensive Programs (BIP) to implement cooperative teaching formats with European partner universities.
