Junior Studies Program

Portrait Neeltje

"The Junior Studies Program was one of the most wonderful times of my life. I was able to learn a lot, get excited about a wide range of new things, and I wasn’t as worried as others about how to get started with my university studies. You get to know several people who always open their door to you and have time to listen to you. And even if everything isn’t going according to plan, you can always find a good solution; you just have to ask. I recommend that everyone apply for the Junior Studies Program; it’s not for nothing that I’m a proud first-semester student here at the University of Potsdam."

What is the Junior Studies Program?

Are you feeling that your classes at school don’t demand enough of you?  Are you looking for new challenges?  Would you like to participate in courses at the University of Potsdam during your time at school, becoming familiar with scientific methods and ways of working in specific subjects and promoting your individual abilities in a targeted way?

Then the Junior Studies Program is just right for you. In the framework of Junior Studies, pupils have the possibility to participate in courses in parallel to school, earning credits that can also be recognized later when you study.

How do I become a junior student?

If you would like to be accepted as a junior student at the University of Potsdam, you will need to take part in a two-stage admission process.  The prerequisite for applying is proof of good academic performance and the agreement of your parents and your school. In addition, a statement of purpose from the applicant and a written assessment from the specialist subject teacher will need to be submitted.

If the excellent academic achievement and the applicant’s high level of motivation are clear from the documents submitted, the candidates receive an invitation to the second stage of the process.

The second stage of the selection process consists of an interview that the applicant will hold with an advisor from the Central Student Advisory Service.

You will find forms and tips for the application here.
