Christian E. Rieck opens Kampala Geopolitics Academy

For the second time, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation's Regional Program on Security Policy Dialogue in East Africa organized a week-long training program for young leaders from politics, diplomacy, media, and think tanks in the region. The academy took place from August 26 to 30, 2025, in Kampala and Entebbe, Uganda. Lectures and discussion panels were led by professors from Uganda, Rwanda, Djibouti, and Germany. Christian E. Rieck gave a series of lectures in Kampala on geopolitics, geoeconomics, and great power competition in the Horn of Africa, particularly from the perspective of the Federal Republic of Germany and its development and security policy. He also led a six-hour workshop in which participants worked in groups to draft policy advisory papers.
