• Enrollment as a student at the Department of Psychology, University of Potsdam
• Sufficient language proficiency for the planned study stay

Your application is submitted exclusively via the International Office’s central platform MoveON (see link below). There, you will need to upload the following application documents:

1. Curriculum vitae (in tabular form)
2. Motivation letter (maximum 1 page)
3. Transcripts/Diplomas
4. Language certificates

Before your stay, upon arrival, and after your return, you will prepare a Learning Agreement together with the ERASMUS+ coordinators. This document specifies which courses you will take abroad, how many credits (ECTS) they are worth, and which of them can be recognized towards your studies in Potsdam. Initially, you should aim to complete 30 ECTS, as this is also tied to your scholarship agreement. You can find more information about this on the International Office website. Please note that certain courses cannot be recognized after your return, even if the host university awards ECTS credits for them. These include language and sports courses. In addition, credits for courses relevant under PsychThApprO (Psychotherapists Act), particularly clinical training components, cannot be recognized (see program-specific guidelines).

Under certain circumstances, your stay can be extended — however, only by a maximum of one semester and only directly following your already approved semester. If you start your exchange in the winter semester, an extension for the following summer semester is often possible with relatively little bureaucracy. If you start in the summer semester, you must reapply for the following winter semester, as this marks the beginning of a new academic year with separate placement quotas. In general, we do not reserve places in advance for such cases, but you are welcome to mention your circumstances in your application.

For the Bachelor’s program, it should be noted that full recognition of courses taken abroad may be difficult in terms of admission to the new Psychotherapy Master’s program. Many modules under the new curriculum must cover content required for eligibility for the psychotherapeutic examination under PsychThApprO. These requirements are usually not fully met abroad, meaning that many modules relevant for admission to the Master KliPPt will most likely not be recognized.
