On 11 June 2026, the Chair of War Studies at the University of Potsdam welcomed a high-ranking delegation from Taiwan for an academic exchange. The visit focused on shared scholarly interests and current research questions.

The meeting provided participants with an opportunity to discuss different perspectives on developments in military history, security policy contexts, and the importance of historical research for understanding contemporary challenges. The visit underscored the particular importance of international academic relations. At a time of growing global interconnectedness, personal encounters and cross-border dialogue make an important contribution to fostering mutual understanding, generating new ideas for research and teaching, and building sustainable academic networks.

For the Chair of War Studies, the exchange represented a valuable opportunity to strengthen existing contacts and open up new academic and regional prospects. At the same time, the meeting demonstrated that academic collaboration extends far beyond the exchange of research findings: it creates spaces of trust, brings together different perspectives and experiences, and lays the foundations for long-term cooperation.
