Privacy Policy: Housing Search Assistance Program for Incoming Students (Landlords)
This website is to inform you of the collection, processing, and use of your personal data by the University of Potsdam as part of our housing services for incoming students.
We process your data in accordance with the applicable legal provisions on data protection, in particular with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Brandenburg Data Protection Act (Brandenburgisches Datenschutzgesetz BbgDSG).

Types of data being processed
- Contact information (given name, family name, e-mail address, phone number)
- Information on languages spoken by the landlord
- Information on the housing offer (if applicable, including photos), as well as possible roommates
Purpose of data processing
Data is being processed for carrying out a process to help international students at the University of Potsdam find possible housing options.
Legal basis for data processing
The legal basis for the processing of data is your consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with EU GDPR Article 6(1)(a).
Recipient of the data
Only those persons and departments of the University of Potsdam (Division 2, Student Affairs: Housing Coordination) that are responsible for assisting international students in their search for housing options will receive your personal data. In addition, we will provide your contact information as well as the data you have provided on the housing offer to any interested international (incoming) students of the University of Potsdam.
Duration of data storage
The collected data will be stored until we receive feedback from you regarding a successful placement of a tenant in your accommodation and will subsequently be deleted upon receipt of your message.
Your rights
You have the right to request information from us regarding the processing of personal data pertaining to you. Apart from the possibility to obtain a copy of your personal data, this right allows you to request information on the purposes of the processing, the recipients of the data as well as the duration for which the data is stored.
Should the personal data being processed be incorrect, you can ask for it to be corrected. Should the legal requirements of Article 17 or 18 of the GDPR apply, you also have the right to have personal data deleted or to restrict its processing. Please note that restricted processing of your data might not be possible in some cases. You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format or to request the transmission of your data to another controller (Article 20 GDPR). Insofar as data processing is permissible without your consent, you can object to the processing of your data in accordance with the requirements of Article 21 GDPR.
