Where Science meets Sunset

Our next Science Club #BarbequeEdition will take place on September 17, 2026.

At the next Science Club, we’ll fire up the PoGS grill. Whether it’s cheese, bratwurst, or tofu - you bring what you want to grill, and we’ll provide cold drinks, a great panoramic view from the rooftop terrace, and do the grilling for you. Even if you don’t bring anything to grill, an evening at the Science Club is well worth it - it’s a great way to spend a relaxed evening meeting other PhD candidates and postdocs, striking up conversations, and raising a glass together. Whether you want to chat about your projects, make new connections, or simply unwind - the Science Club offers the perfect mix of conversation, lightheartedness, and a great atmosphere.

Why participate?

Did you have a great, exhausting, challenging, or highly productive day? Would you like to share your experiences or simply talk about something other than academy for a change? Then a relaxed get-together on the rooftop terrace of the Wissenschaftsetage is just right for you. You can exchange ideas with dedicated members from different areas of the PoGS scientific community and engage in inspiring conversations. The Science Club offers exactly that, a place where ideas flow, friendships grow, and networking is possible in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Meet colleagues, share experiences, and end your workday with a refreshing drink while enjoying a beautiful view over the rooftops of Potsdam. True to the motto “Where Science meets Sunset.”
 

What can you expect?

• Socializing and exchange: Get to know members and the team of the Potsdam Graduate School in person and expand your network in a relaxed setting.
• Inspiring conversations: Exchange ideas about your current challenges, your research topics, and latest findings, or simply chat about topics close to your heart.
• Relaxation in an exclusive location: The roof terrace of the Wissenschaftsetage not only offers an excellent view, but also the perfect environment to recharge your batteries after an eventful day.

Where does it take place?

The Science Club takes place on the science floor (Wissenschaftsetage) of the Bildungsforum (4th floor, room Schwarzschild) in Potsdam – on a sunny day on the roof terrace and in winter in front of the crackling fireplace. Whether it's to make new contacts or simply to enjoy a good time - we cordially invite you to drop by!
