Prof. Dr. John Siegel

External Lecturer - Professor for Public Management at the Berlin School of Economics and Law

Dr. John Siegel was Professor of Public Administration and Management at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and substitute professor at the Chair of Public and Nonprofit Management at the University of Potsdam. Since April 2021 he is Professor for Public Management at the Berlin School of Economics and Law.

Previously, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Public Services and Tourism at the University of St. Gallen (from which he holds a Ph.D.), as a Visiting Researcher at the Georgetown Public Policy Institute at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Public and Nonprofit Management at the University of Potsdam. Before accepting the job in Hamburg, John Siegel was Project Manager in the program "LebensWerte Kommune" at the Bertelsmann Foundation. Since April 2021 he is Professor of Business Administration for Public Administration at the Berlin School of Economics and Law, but will continue to work for the chair as a lecturer and on various projects.

He is an Associated Fellow in the Potsdam Center of Policy & Management and participates in its project "Strengthening Public Administration Education in Afghanistan".

John Siegel's research and teaching areas include administrative reforms, (New) public management, HRM, strategic and performance management in the public sector.
