Cooperations

The Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences is well networked and cooperates with numerous non-university research institutions in the science region Berlin-Brandenburg. There are particularly close ties with five research institutions (DIW, IASS, PIKWZB and IRS) due to joint appointments. This cooperation benefits research, as well as teaching to a particularly high degree. Further joint appointments, which contribute to an intensification of the cooperation with non-university research institutions, are currently being planned.

There is a long-standing, intra-university cooperation with the Law Faculty in the field of interdisciplinary municipal science research, teaching, further education and consulting. The Kommunalwissenschaftliches Institut (KWI) (Institute of Municipal Sciences) was founded in 1993 and transformed into a joint scientific institution of the Law Faculty and the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences in 2010.
