Puma 1: Lectures Public Management (Wintersemester)
These courses are offered in the winter semester only.
The courses introduce the basics of management of public and non-profit organizations. The aim of the lectures is to highlight and analyze the characteristics and special features in the management of public and non-profit organizations. To this end, after an introductory basic typification of organizations in the two sectors concerned, selected specific management functions and issues for each sector will be addressed. Individual sessions will be held in English.
The chair has adapted the courses Public Management 1 and 2 to the study regulations that have changed over the years. As a consequence, the specialized course "Public Management for Lawyers" is offered for the non-law profile subject. Law students please take this course and not the lecture "Introduction to Public Management". The latter can only be taken by students of economics, social sciences, business informatics and sports management.

Puma 2: Seminars on Public and Nonprofit Management (Summer semester)
These courses are only offered in the summer semester.
The following seminar is currently offered as part of the Public Management 2 module:
Introduction to the Management of Nonprofit Organizations and Social Enterprises
This seminar focuses on the importance and potential of nonprofit organizations and social enterprises as a response to current societal changes. After an introduction to nonprofit organizations and social enterprises in general, the seminar will focus on 6 key topics in the management of these organizations: Strategy, Marketing, Human Resources, Financing and Fundraising, Performance and Accountability, and Certification.
Lecture Introduction to Controlling and Cost Accounting
This course is only offered in the summer semester.
The course provides an overview of operational cost and activity accounting. The focus is on cost type, cost center and cost unit accounting on an actual cost basis. In addition, an introduction to standard costing and cost management is given.
The students
- are able to explain and understand the concept, goals and tasks of controlling and cost-performance accounting,
- are able to explain and reflect on the coordination functions of controlling,
- understand the computational basics of cost and performance accounting and are able to apply them to concrete situations,
- are able to explain and critically reflect on operational decisions based on the results of cost and performance accounting.
In the tutorials, exercises are offered for the lecture Cost and Performance Accounting (Controlling, KLR in module BWL600). The tutorials are designed as a voluntary supplement to the lecture.

Bachelor Project Public Management/Colloquium
Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Isabella Proeller
In the colloquium, students whose theses are or will be supervised at the chair are given the opportunity to present their projects. The aim is to discuss the topic, question, methodology and, if applicable, results of the respective project through feedback from fellow students and supervisors, to clarify open questions and thus to accompany the writing of the thesis or the corresponding research process. In addition, the knowledge of the students on topics of scientific work, such as citation and plagiarism, and on methodology, such as formulation of a research question, conception of a research design, or various survey methods will be refreshed.
The course will take place in presence as well as in digital form. Details will be announced via Moodle and by mail after enrollment in PULS.
