Bachelor thesis

Step 1:
You have identified a topic for which you wish to write your thesis.

Step 2:
Recommendation: Before the application period, contact the person who will be responsible for the first assessment with your proposed topic/title (via email). The topic must fit within the teaching and research area of the staff members of the chair. Another requirement is that you have taken and completed at least one advanced seminar at the chair.

Step 3:
Once you have received a positive assessment of the thematic suitability from the person who will take on the first assessment, you can start working on your exposé. Information on drafting the exposé can be found under the guidelines for topic selection. The exposé must be included in the supervision request.

Step 4:
Fill out the form. The supervision request (including exposé) forms the basis for the first consultation and the decision on the supervision agreement.

Step 5:
After you have transferred all information to the supervision request, apply as described above. Multiple applications with different evaluators within our team are not possible.

Step 6:
Once the application period has ended, all applications have been reviewed, and decisions regarding acceptance or rejection* have been made, you will receive an email requesting confirmation and an invitation to schedule a first meeting. Once we receive your confirmation, we will handle the topic assignment form and the signatures of the evaluators and forward it to the representative for study organization and examination matters in social sciences, Dr. Kletzin.

* Unfortunately, based on experience, we cannot consider all applications. In case of rejection, please contact the examination board or Dr. Kletzin and/or inquire at other chairs, especially those where you have participated in an advanced seminar.

Generally, you have 6 months to write your bachelor's thesis. Use your supervisor's office hours to clarify questions and stay in touch; this should not be weekly, but 2-3 appointments during the writing period are recommended.
