Distinction for Nina Reiners at ISA Annual Convention 2019 in Toronto

Our postdoctoral research fellow Nina Reiners was recognized as runner-up for the ISA human rights section's Best Dissertation Award.

The award committee members regarded the dissertation as "sufficiently outstanding among those nominated to deserve receiving recognition“. ISA, the International Studies Association, represents over 100 countries, has more than 6,500 members worldwide and is the most respected and widely known scholarly association in this field.

Nina defended her dissertation on „Transnational Lawmaking Coalitions for Human Rights“ in October 2017 in Potsdam. Her supervisors were Prof. Andrea Liese and Prof. Harald Fuhr, and Prof. Heike Krieger from the Free University Berlin and Prof. Malcolm Dunn were members of the committee. The dissertation was nominated for the award competition by Hans Peter Schmitz from the University of San Diego, where Nina was a visiting scholar during the final phase of her PhD.

Nina is currently working on a book manuscript which is based on the dissertation and her postdoctoral research project, funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. We are very happy and congratulate her on this well-deserved distinction!
