DFG-Project Jüdisches Film Heritage Post-doc Position

Dr. Irine Beridze

Dr. Irine Beridze is a scholar in literary and cultural studies – also with a focus on film studies. She studied German studies, Modern German Literature and Slavic Studies in Tbilisi, Potsdam and Berlin and completed her PhD-project at the Free University of Berlin in 2024 on the topic of “Transfer processes of memory in contemporary German-language literature by post-Soviet authors”. Between 2020 and 2024, she worked as a research assistant at the Department of Culture at the Institute for Eastern European Studies at Freie Universität Berlin.

Her main areas of research are: migration literature, comics and graphic novels from Eastern Europe, ecology and literature, war documentaries, history of Soviet-Georgian film, Jewish cultures in the South Caucasus and theories of transculturality/transnationality.

Her first book (dissertation) was published in February 2025 in German by transcript Verlag with the title „Neuere Migrationsliteratur. Transkulturelle Poetiken osteuropäischer Gedächtnisse nach 2010“.
