Dr. Olmo Masa de Lucas
Olmo Masa de Lucas studied Political Science and Law from 2011 to 2017 at the Complutense
University of Madrid. Between 2017 and 2019 he did his Master in North American
Studies (focus on Culture and History) at the JFK Institute of the Freie
Universität Berlin with the Master Thesis “Holocaust Heritage and Memory in the
US. The New Haven Holocaust Memorial.” From 2019 to 2024 he completed his PhD
in Political Science and International Relations at the Complutense University
of Madrid with the Dissertation “The memory of the Holocaust and Nazi crimes in
Spain (2000-2023): a critical heritage studies approach.” During this time he was
a visiting researcher at the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw and at
Amherst College, Massachusetts (US). Since December 2024 he is a postdoc
researcher at the Institute for Jewish and Religious Studies of the University
of Potsdam. His project, funded by the Walter Benjamin Programme of the DFG,
deals with the histories of Sephardi Jews with Spanish citizenship during the
Holocaust in Greece and France.
