Andrea Liese has held the chair of International Organizations and Policies since 2010.
Her main research interests are international organizations, international norms and trans- and international human rights policy.
She is the principal investigator (with Per-Olof Busch) of the subproject 6 "Consideration of Expert Knowledge - International Public Administrations as Policy Experts", which is part of the German Research Foundation research group "International Public Administration". She also leads (together with Prof Anna Holzscheiter) the subproject "Norm Collisions: Procedural Norms and Interface Management in Fragmented Areas of Transnational Politics" in the research group "Overlapping Spheres of Authority and Interface Conflicts in the Global Order. Furthermore, she is member of the research group "The International Rule of Law – Rise or Decline?", funded by the German Research Foundation.
She has published in reputable academic journals like "Governance. An International Journal of Policy, Administration, and Institutions", "Review of International Political Economy" and "Zeitschrift für Internationale Beziehungen". Her book "Staaten am Pranger. Zur Wirkung internationaler Regime auf die innerstaatliche Menschenrechtspolitik" was published in 2006 by the VS-Verlag. Furthermore, she was the editor (with Marianne Beisheim) of the book "Transnational Partnerships. Effectively Providing for Sustainable Development?" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014) and (with Eugénia da Conceição-Heldt and Martin Koch) of the special issue 49 of the Politische Vierteljahresschrift (2015).
Andrea Liese is member of the research advisory board of the German Society for the United Nations (DGVN), a member of the board of the Development and Peace Foundation and part of the faculty of the Berlin Graduate School for Global and Transregional Studies.
