News and events
Potsdam is an open-minded city that promotes tolerance and diversity while offering numerous opportunities for international engagement. The university plays a central role in this – through student initiatives, cultural events, and social projects. This fosters intercultural exchange, new friendships, and contributions to the global community.
Under the slogan “Uni findet Stadt” (The University Meets the City), the university is moving from the outskirts to the heart of the city with lectures, exhibitions, concerts, and workshops to showcase the research and work being done at Brandenburg’s largest university. And sometimes in some very unusual places!

The International Office invites students, researchers and staff to the Internationalization Workshop, which focuses on improving the academic, living, and working conditions for international students at UP.
Together, we would like to work on Goal 5 of the planned internationalization strategy: How can we truly welcome international students and researchers into our university community? How can we successfully engage, integrate, and support them in the long term?
Our goal is to go beyond mere hospitality and create a genuine sense of belonging—with the long-term aim of encouraging them to stay in our region.
For those who cannot make it to Neues Palais on June 16: you can join us via Zoom!

Recap
Pieces of our International Kaleidoscope
June 2026, Campus Festival
As part of the Campus Festival, our international campus ambassadors invited students and staff to share their ideas and wishes for a truly international campus. Participants wrote their contributions on colored shapes, which were then brought together to form a vibrant kaleidoscope. The installation generated a lively and engaging exchange across the campus community.
International Week 2025
November 2025
During the International Week 2025, students, staff, and researchers were able to learn about opportunities for studying abroad both online and in person. The program offered a wide range of activities for anyone interested—whether they were planning a stay abroad, welcoming international guests to the university, or looking to develop joint projects in an international context. This led to a lively exchange of experiences, perspectives, and opportunities for collaboration across national borders. Further information on preparation and available opportunities was provided on the website. The next International Week will take place from November 9–13, 2026.
Workshop "International Campus"
July 2025, Speed Ideation Workshop
As part of the “International Campus” workshop, students, researchers, and faculty and administrative staff came together for an in-depth exchange of ideas. In a casual speed-dating format, creative ideas were developed and lively discussions took place on how to make the campus and the university community even more international, open, and connected. Participants contributed diverse perspectives and engaged in lively discussions about concrete approaches and shared visions. This gave rise to a dynamic dialogue that provided new impetus for the further development of the international campus. Due to the rain, the subsequent social picnic took place in the foyer.
International Picknick
July 2025, International Picnic “One table, many flavors"
Sharing a meal brings people together—which is why this event was once again all about good food and good company! The UP community was warmly invited to eat together, chat, and wind down the afternoon in a relaxed atmosphere. Due to the rain, the picnic was quickly moved from the campus lawn to the foyer of the Audimax, but this didn’t dampen the mood at all and actually made the event all the more convivial!
Recipes for an international campus
May 2025, Campus Festival
At the Campus Festival, the “Recipes for an International Campus” activity invited students and visitors to share their ideas, wishes, and perspectives in a creative and participatory way. More than 130 contributions were written as “recipes” on cards and pinned to a shared board, forming a collection of visions for an international campus. The participatory format was a great success, creating an inspiring space for exchange across the campus community.
