How was your journey to Germany and your first days settling into the student residence?

I travelled by train from Brussels to Potsdam. It was a bit of a hassle with all the luggage during the transfers. But luckily, some very friendly Germans helped me! The next challenge was figuring out how the buses work here. Once I figured that out, it has been fairly easy so far. Checking in at my student flat went very efficiently and quickly. I was extremely happy the first time I opened the door with my key.

What has been the most challenging part of settling in so far?

Settling into student accommodation happened day by day. I keep discovering new things about the accommodation. So it has been very easy.

What were your first impressions of Potsdam and Germany when you arrived?

I am already in love with Potsdam. The architecture really appeals to me. I love the pastel-coloured facades. The city centre is truly elegant! The many parks create a peaceful atmosphere. Ideal for a walk or a jog.

How are you finding your German language course so far?

The language course is very useful for refreshing my grammar skills. I also learn lots of interesting facts about Germany. It's great that the course is taught in small groups. That makes it easier to keep trying to speak German.

What has been the most surprising or interesting experience during your first weeks here?

We did the Potsdam tour, that started at the old market. I was so surprised by how many buildings were relatively new. I couldn’t believe it when the guide told us this!

What are you most looking forward to once your university courses start?

I am very curious about the content of the courses. I am also curious about the teaching methods. And of course, I am very keen to get to know my fellow students. And finally, I am looking forward to improving my German.
