International Campus Ambassadors

What is it like to study abroad? What helps international students settle in at the University of Potsdam? And what international opportunities are available to students?
This summer semester marks the first time the University of Potsdam is running its International Campus Ambassador program. Ten students have been selected by the International Office as Campus Ambassadors. They are either international students themselves or have gained valuable experience through studying or interning abroad, and they share these perspectives with others. Their work is
supported through a small honorary stipend as part of a voluntary engagement program.
As student contacts, they support international students as they arrive and settle in at the University of Potsdam, provide insights into study abroad experiences, and contribute to Pop ups, information events, workshops, and other international activities organized by the International Office. They also organize their own community activities such as games and sports sessions, cooking evenings, cultural meetups, and informal gatherings, creating opportunities for exchange and connection across different backgrounds.

Merit

My name is Merit, and I’ve been pursuing a bachelor’s degree in geoecology at the University of Potsdam since 2023. During my studies, I spent a semester abroad in Wageningen, the Netherlands, and now, as a campus ambassador, I’d like to help international students find their way around and settle in here in Potsdam. At the same time, it’s a great opportunity to encourage students from Germany to study abroad and to help them with any questions they may have and with planning.

Introductions to all our other campus ambassadors will be coming soon!
