International Campus Ambassadors

Apply to become an International Campus Ambassador!

Have you recently returned from a study semester or internship abroad and would like to share your experiences? Would you like to encourage other students to explore international opportunities and help strengthen the international profile of our campus? Or would you like to share your experiences as an international student yourself and support other students from abroad?

Then we invite you to apply to become a Campus Ambassador for the International Office during the Winter Semester 2026/27!

Your commitment will be recognized with a lump-sum honorarium of €400 for your voluntary engagement (excluding students who are employed by UP). We expect a commitment of approximately 20–25 hours over the course of the semester. We are looking for students who are willing to share their personal experiences in an authentic and engaging way.

As a Campus Ambassador, you will…

  • support international students during welcome, orientation, and campus events,
  • serve as a peer contact for informal questions about studying and student life,
  • assist with information sessions on studying and completing internships abroad,
  • share your experiences abroad in selected university courses,
  • participate in community events, campus tours, and international activities,
  • offer insights into student life at UP and intercultural experiences on campus through social media posts, interviews, photos, or videos,
  • contribute your own ideas to help foster an open, diverse, and internationally minded campus community.

Interested?

Please send us your application (CV and a letter of motivation in a single pdf) by email no later than August 14th, 2026 to international-officeuni-potsdamde .

What is it like to study abroad? What helps international students settle in at the University of Potsdam? And what international opportunities are available to students?
This summer semester marks the first time the University of Potsdam is running its International Campus Ambassador program. Ten students have been selected by the International Office as Campus Ambassadors. They are either international students themselves or have gained valuable experience through studying or interning abroad, and they share these perspectives with others. Their work is supported through a small honorary stipend as part of a voluntary engagement program.
As student contacts, they support international students as they arrive and settle in at the University of Potsdam, provide insights into study abroad experiences, and contribute to Pop ups, information events, workshops, and other international activities organized by the International Office. They also organize their own community activities such as games and sports sessions, cooking evenings, cultural meetups, and informal gatherings, creating opportunities for exchange and connection across different backgrounds.

Elena

Hi! I'm Elena, I'm from Mexico, and I'm studying law at UP. In 2024, I spent a semester in Granada, Spain, as part of the Erasmus program. As a campus ambassador, I help incoming students find their way around the university and in Germany, and I want to encourage more students to take the plunge and spend a semester (or a year!) abroad.

Anwar

Hello! My name is Anwar, I’m from Syria and have been studying German Language and Literature and History at the University of Potsdam since 2023. As an international student, I understand the challenges—but also the many opportunities—that come with studying in a new country. Exchange, mutual support, and getting to know different cultures are particularly important to me.

As a campus ambassador, I want to help international students settle in at the University of Potsdam, share my own experiences, and help build an open and vibrant community on our beautiful campus. I’d love to help international students feel welcome at UP, make connections, and find their place in the university community. I look forward to facilitating new encounters, sharing experiences, and actively helping to shape the international community at our university.

Merit

My name is Merit. I’ve been pursuing a bachelor’s degree in geoecology at the UP since 2023. During my studies I've spent a semester abroad in Wageningen, Netherlands, and now, as a campus ambassador, I’d like to help international students find their way around and settle in here in Potsdam. It’s also a great opportunity to encourage students from Germany to study abroad and to help them with any questions they may have and with planning.

Chelsea

Hi everyone, I’m Chelsea and I’m pursuing a master’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology at UP. I’m from Cameroon and love getting to know new people and cultures. I applied to be a campus ambassador because I want to help others—after all, when I was new here last year, I received help myself. If you have any questions or need someone to talk to, feel free to reach out to me or the other ambassadors. I look forward to hearing from you!

Pauline

Hi, my name is Pauline and I’m studying German and philosophy. Last year, I spent three months in Montevideo, Uruguay, where I did an internship at Udelar. As a campus ambassador this semester, I’m helping the Interational Office with everything related to studying abroad.

Philipp

Hi, I’m Philipp, and I’m pursuing a master’s degree in Business Informatics & Digital Transformation at the University of Potsdam. I spent my own study abroad semester in 2024 at Marmara University in Istanbul—an experience that showed me how important it is to get off to a good start in a new city. As a campus ambassador, I help international students settle into life in Potsdam, answer questions about their studies, and am happy to serve as a point of contact. Most recently, we organized a city game where we explored Potsdam together in a fun way, and at the 2026 Campus Festival, I helped out at the International Office’s booth.

Luca

Hello, my name is Luca, I'm24 years old and from near Hamburg and I'm studying sociology and political science here at the UP. I spent the winter semester in Colombia and had the experience of a lifetime there—which is why I became a campus ambassador for the university—to encourage you to do the same! Together with the other ambassadors, we organize events, share our experiences, and are always here to answer any questions you might have :)

Alex

Hey, my name is Alexandra, and I’m studying English and History to become a teacher. I’m a campus ambassador because I’m convinced that any experience abroad during your studies is valuable, whether it’s an internship, a semester abroad, or summer school. Thanks to the Erasmus program and the help of the International Office, I had the opportunity to spend a semester each in England and Sweden. That’s why, based on my own experience, I highly recommend studying abroad, and I look forward to helping other students with their thoughts and questions about studying abroad. That’s exactly why the other campus ambassadors and I organize various events—such as an exchange evening, a cooking night, or a country exchange—where students can talk to one another and share their experiences with studying abroad.

Kuro

Hi, I’m Kuro (they/them). I’m pursuing a master’s degree in Anglophone Modernities in Literature and Culture. In 2022, I spent a semester abroad in Newfoundland, Canada. I’m also looking forward to spending an Erasmus semester in Finland next year. As a Campus Ambassador, I’d like to support you during your studies at UP, share my experiences with studying abroad, and help foster an international, diverse, and open campus culture. See you around campus! :-)

Paula

My name is Paula, and I’m in my sixth semester of a bachelor’s degree program in philosophy and education. I spent the past winter semester at the University of Vienna as part of the Erasmus program. As a campus ambassador, I’d like to share my experiences and support both international students and students who are planning to study abroad.
