In accordance with discipline-specific admission regulation you need to have an undergraduate academic degree:

• in in either computer science, mathematics, or Data Science totaling 180 credit points;

• in business informatics totaling 180 credit points, as long as the applicant has completed computer science modules comprising at least 60 credit points and mathematics modules comprising at least 18 credit points; or

• in a natural science totaling 180 credit points, as long as the applicant has completed mathematics modules comprising at least 27 credit points and at least one module in computer science comprising 6 credit points.

Remark: Applying for a master's degree generally requires you to hold an undergraduate degree, such as a bachelor's degree. A first degree in either computer science or mathematics qualifies you in any case for this master's degree. We strongly recommend that your prior studies included preliminary courses in probability and statistics. A degree in information systems or natural sciences qualifies you if your first degree strongly emphasized content from the areas of computer science or mathematics.

The degree program MSc Data Science only accepts first semester applications for each winter semester intake. Summer semester is only an option if you are already or have been enrolled in another postgraduate degree program similar to the degree program MSc Data Science and want to apply for entry to an advanced semester.

Advanced semester applies if you wish to transfer from a different (but similar) degree program to the Master program Data Science. Therefore you need to verify whether academic credits already obtained by you can be recognized towards the new degree program and whether those will be sufficient to place you in a higher semester. Application is firstly processed by uni-assist e.V. Any documents not submitted via uni-assist will not be considered. Also we cannot afford preliminary evaluations of application documents or transcript of records.

For enrollment deadlines, please refer to your admission notification. We recommend to apply for enrollment as early as possible after you received your admission notification.
