Welcome to our Science Slams. Here we bring together scientists and students from the University of Potsdam with interested members of the public.

The next Science Slam by the University of Potsdam at Waschhaus Potsdam takes place on 6 October 2026!

Who will win the title?

The eight best slammers from eastern Germany will go head-to-head at the East German Science Slam Championship. Having qualified through regional competitions, they will once again demonstrate just how entertaining and exciting science can be. With wit and precision, they explain what they're currently researching. The pressure comes from a strict ten-minute time limit — whoever manages to win the audience over to their topic in that short space of time is crowned winner through applause and points. Dr Bryan Nowack, himself a successful slammer and biologist, will host the competition, at the end of which it will be decided who gets to compete for the German Championship title in Berlin on 23 October.
