New AKS Board of Directors: Dr. David Prickett Elected as AKS Deputy Chairperson

The „Arbeitskreis der Sprachenzentren an Hochschulen e.V." (Association of Language Centers in Higher Education; AKS) promotes the teaching and learning of foreign languages in higher education in terms of content, didactics, and organizational development.

At the online constituent meeting of the AKS Standing Commission on June 26, 2020, Dr. David Prickett, Head of Zessko, was elected Deputy Chairperson (see also Newsletter No. 27 [in German]). Closer networking, exchange and intensifying existing partnerships are Prickett's goals for the next two years. UNIcert®, FOBIcert® and AKS participation in the CercleS Focus Groups promote the development and maintenance of quality standards among AKS members. "It is important to focus on these cornerstones but also to lay new ones—e. g., the expansion of the new partnership with the International Association for Language Learning Technology (IALLT)—which will foster the digitisation and internationalization of language centers of institutions of higher education," says Prickett.

Zessko will organize this year’s online AKS conference for heads of language centers on November 27 and 28. Participants will meet to discuss the highly topical subject "Online Instruction at Language Centers: Possibilities and Limits."
