Research Focus


The research field Political Theory and History of Ideas concentrates on the foundations of political science. In research and teaching, the Chair of Political Theory is primarily concerned with central concepts of politics, with various theoretical explanatory approaches and normative strategies of justification, as well as with the sources of the history of ideas and developments in political thinking.

The research focus of the chair lies on questions of justice, inequality, social theory, the normative evaluation of political economy, climate ethics, and the proper handling of complex and systemic risks. 

Further work and teaching is centered on territorial rights, critical theory, decolonialism, feminist and anti-racist theory and the history of political ideas.
