Dr. Sara Cufré

Sara Cufré is a Political Scientist with a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a research fellow with the International Research Group on Authoritarianism and Counterstrategies (IRGAC). She specialises in labour, gender, and union movements. Her research has focused on labour conflicts in the airline industry, with particular attention to health, safety, and working conditions.

Between 2014 and 2022, she conducted her doctoral and postdoctoral research at the Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones Laborales (CEIL-CONICET) in Argentina. During the fall of 2020 and the summer semester of 2022, she was affiliated with the International Centre for Development and Decent Work (ICDD) at the University of Kassel. From May to September 2024, she was a visiting researcher at the Institute for International Political Economy (IPE) at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. 

Sara has combined her academic work with long-standing activism in the labour and feminist movements. She participates in union training programmes and activities within the Global Labour University and serves on the Board of the Global Labour Column.

She is interested in researching and developing tools to support union policies and strategies that promote equity and diversity and advance inclusive frameworks within labour organisations.
