The Collaborative Research Center (CRC-TRR 228), Future Rural Africa project has received the funding approval for an additional four years (2022 – 2025), by the German Research Foundation (DFG). These funds will ensure continuity of Future Rural Africa’s overarching research objectives of studying the impact of land-use changes, social-ecological transformations and future making endeavours in rural Africa. The Group of Biodiversity Research and Systematic Botany with PI Prof. Dr. Anja Linstädter is involved in this undertaking via the subproject Future Carbon Storage (project A01 of the CRC) which will continue to work on carbon storage in vegetation and soil and its relation to ecosystem services, land-management practices, rural wealth dynamics, and historical settlement processes.
