Non-Profit Associations

By tradition, non-profit associations from Potsdam and the surrounding area have been introducing themselves at WarmUP. They present their projects, offer consultations for any situation and are often also looking for new volunteers and supporters. We would like to provide these associations with a platform again this year.

Volunteerism is everywhere at the Universitätsgesellschaft Potsdam (university society)!  The executive board and advisory board strive with diverse ideas for constant strategic development of the almost 30-year-old, approximately 1000-member, non-profit association. This includes networking with friendly organizations in science and civil society.   The association's three most important funding priorities are the integration of refugees and the associated intercultural communication, the promotion of inclusion projects, and support measures for the self-employed.  Frequently, these are also student-initiated projects. Last but not least, the association maintains a decentralized, voluntary support of various alumni chapters, which focuses on alumni meetings as well as workshops and mentoring of students and alumni.

As a counseling center for topics related to sexuality, sexual health and sexual education, we at AIDS-Hilfe Potsdam e.V. offer a safe and anonymous space to support people with questions, experiences and counseling needs.

Whether it's about contraception, the need to talk after a sexual accident, or topics related to sexuality and identity, our team of counselors always has an open ear and supports people in understanding situations better and/or developing a solution and action strategy.

In addition, we offer anonymous testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections by our specially trained staff on the first three Thursdays of each month.

We visit school classes to conduct sex education workshops with them and support them on their way to sexual self-determination.

Our colorful team of volunteers, which is always happy to welcome new comrades-in-arms, carries out educational work in the bars of Potsdam's city center. It is not uncommon to find our booth at CSDs, other queer events or the World AIDS Day. There, volunteers and staff are available with information material, playful approaches to the topics through our wheel of fortune, and openness to conversation.

The Deutsche Pfadfinderschaft St. Georg (DPSG) is part of the world organization of the scout movement. You can experience a lot of different things with us: meet friends, discover and try new things, see nature, have fun, get involved, master adventures and a lot more. The cub scouts (7-10 years old), boy scouts (10-13 years old), scouts (13-16 years old) and rovers (16-18 years old) are always looking for dedicated adults, who want to help us prepare our weekly group meetings, go with us on our camp outings or plan other activities for and with us. Do you want to be a part of all this? You can find more details on www.pfadis-potsdam.de. If you are interested, you can (non-committally) contact vorstandpfadis-potsdamde.

We are a group of young members called Junge Aktive (JA) in the federal association for dyslexia and dyscalculia (Bundesverband Legasthenie und Dyskalkulie e.V.). Our group unites teenagers and young adults between the ages of 15 and 35 with dyslexia or dyscalculia. We are all about empowering one another and supporting other affected people. That's why we like to discuss and share the experiences we have made at school, during our vocational training and at university. We also provide information on dyslexia and dyscalculia. Many people are still prejudiced when it comes to us, despite the fact that our learning disorder has nothing to do with a lack of intelligence.

You can find a short video about us here.

You are 16-30 years old, live in Potsdam or the surrounding area and would like to get involved in social projects without committing yourself to fixed dates or having to decide on a specific area? Then this is the right club for you!

Leo Club Potsdam is a group of young people who like to get involved in non-profit work in their spare time and have fun together. We have been planning and organizing various events for 15 years. They range from an annual charity soccer tournament, food donation campaigns, tequila bingo and mulled wine sales to city clean-up campaigns. We use the donations to support charitable projects in and around Potsdam financially or by rolling up our sleeves and helping where help is needed. Anyone who loves to help and is enthusiastic about doing good things in creative ways is welcome to join us – we are always open for new ideas! Anyone can help. No matter if you are a biologist, set dresser or philosophy student.

If you want to find out more about us, feel free to check out our social media channels. We are very active there, introduce ourselves to you in several video clips and give you an insight into our multifaceted club life. You can also just come to one of our meetings and we can get to know each other personally.

You are new at the university and want to ... get to know your hood outside the university? ... live sustainability? ... make your world a little better right now?
Then visit us at the Potsdam Civic Foundation! Our goal is to make the city friendlier, more colorful and more sustainable! To achieve this, we implement a wide variety of projects together with other committed people: For example, the PotsPRESSO deposit cup system (to make the disposable cups in the to-go area superfluous), an online petition for a municipal ban on disposable cups, offer scientists* from all over the world at the International Tuesday discussion space, cycle people with limited mobility through Potsdam in the Bürgermobil built for us, run the meeting place for young people, the "Bunte B," revive the "Inselbühne" threatened with demolition and show everyone: Culture makes Potsdam!
And the best thing is: We still have room for friends, time donors and contributors! Come by - we look forward to seeing you!

Burglaries, fraud, sexual abuse, bullying, stalking or violent crimes: Criminal offenses can cause deep psychological trauma for victims. WEISSER RING has been supporting victims of crime since 1976. More than 3,000 volunteers assist victims and their relatives after a crime has been committed. In politics, we also stand up for the interests of victims and are involved in promoting crime prevention. Our more than 400 local offices are spread out throughout Germany so that everyone who needs our help always has the possibility to personally get in touch with our local teams. Sometimes an open ear and respectful consideration are enough to help someone go through life with confidence again. In other cases, we provide support in dealing with authorities or arrange for temporary material support.
