Bohdan Tokarskyi is a literary scholar specialising in Ukrainian Studies, in particular Ukraine’s twentieth century and contemporary literature, with a research interest in the intersections between poetry, philosophy and psychology. He studied for a Master’s degree in European Literature and Culture at the University of Cambridge (2015), where he subsequently completed his doctoral work as a Gates Cambridge Scholar and taught as Affiliated Lecturer in Ukrainian Studies. In his doctoral thesis, Tokarskyi explored the works of the Soviet Ukrainian dissident poet Vasyl Stus. He was a Prisma Ukraїna Fellow at the Forum Transregionale Studien in Berlin and a URIS Fellow at the University of Basel. He has also organised and participated in a number of poetry, theatre, translation and cultural diplomacy projects. Tokarskyi joined the University of Potsdam in June 2021 as a research associate within the “Europäische Zeiten/​European Times” (EUTIM) project.   

 

Bohdan Tokarskyi ist Literaturwissenschaftler mit Schwerpunkt auf Ukrainistik, insbesondere der Ukrainischen Literatur des 20. Jahrhunderts und der Gegenwart, mit einem Forschungsinteresse an den Schnittstellen zwischen Poesie, Philosophie und Psychologie. Er studierte im Masterstudiengang Europäische Literatur und Kultur an der Universität Cambridge (2015), wo er anschließend als Gates Cambridge Scholar promovierte und als Affiliated Lecturer im Fachbereich Ukrainistik lehrte. In seiner Doktorarbeit untersuchte Tokarskyi die Werke des sowjetisch-ukrainischen Dissidenten-Dichters Wassyl Stus. Er war Prisma Ukraїna Fellow am Forum Transregionale Studien in Berlin und URIS Fellow an der Universität Basel. Außerdem hat er eine Reihe von Poesie-, Theater-, Übersetzungs- und Kulturdiplomatieprojekten organisiert und an verschiedenen Projekten in diesen Bereichen teilgenommen. Tokarskyi kam im Juni 2021 als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Forschungskolleg „Europäische Zeiten / European Times“ (EUTIM) an die Universität Potsdam.
