An Introduction to Intercultural Communication
People communicate, not cultures. Intercultural communication is about communication between people who have different cultural backgrounds based on influence from a number of different sources and group belongings, such as family, education, profession, nation and transnational impact.
Regardless of reason, people have different ways of communicating and different ways of thinking, which can cause tension. Such tension is nothing strange or negative. It occurs in any relationship. But how we deal with such tension can decide whether we succeed or not in new contexts and work environments. The field of intercultural communication provides knowledge which can be used to develop intercultural competence.
At the end of the course participants will: • have knowledge of intercultural communication as a field of study; • have knowledge of topics such as ethnocentrism, stereotypes, nonverbal communication, verbal communication styles, the concept of culture, mindsets and face saving; • be able to reflect on how to change perspectives and better adapt to different contexts; • be able to reflect on one's own development of intercultural competence; • be able to reflect on the complexity of cultural background and a dynamic approach to communication between people; • be able to reflect on how to develop intercultural competence.

Female Empowerment in Academia
The interdisciplinary course addresses gender inequality in academia. Participants interested in a better understanding of gender relations in their working environment will gain awareness of core problems hindering gender equality in academia and get some practical tips on how to deal with them.

The asynchronous self-paced online training course Female Empowerment in Academia is designed for academic staff and PhD Candidates of all genders who want to gain awareness of core problems hindering gender equality in academia and provides some practical tips on how to deal with them.
Participants explore key topics like structural inequalities, gender-based violence in academia, methodologies for gender-sensitive research, and understand gender beyond ticking the project policy boxes to make a meaningful impact in your field.
At the end of the training, participants will better understand the gender structure embedded in the academia and research environment, learn to be more sensitive and caring towards endangered groups, discover the benefits of gender equality based on good practices from the international university community, and develop competencies especially for the empowerment of women in academia.

EDUC-AI-TION: International Lecture Series on Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education
EDUC-AI-TION is an international lecture series dedicated to examining the role of artificial intelligence in higher education from multiple disciplinary perspectives. Through contributions from researchers, pedagogical experts, and educational practitioners across the EDUC Alliance and partner institutions, the course addresses how AI is reshaping learning, assessment, creativity, self-regulated learning, coding practices, and the ethical responsibilities of universities.
The programme combines critical reflection and research-based insights, offering participants the opportunity to engage with current debates on generative AI, power asymmetries, bias, epistemic authority, academic integrity, and the transformation of educational practices. Sessions are designed to foster awareness, discussion, and a more responsible and informed use of AI in education.

Introduction to Open Science
The course aims to introduce the topics of scientific communication, copyright, Open Access/Open Science, and research evaluation. The aim is to acquire the skills to carry out bibliographic searches, to know how to use information in a responsible way, to produce new knowledge by disseminating results in an open form, to understand the functioning of the research evaluation system. The main tools for conducting effective bibliographic searches on resources in the field will be presented (this module will be differentiated according to the relevant subject area) and elements for handling data in an open manner will be provided. At the end of the course, the learner will have a better understanding of electronic research infrastructures, of the tools and services available for publishing results, including open access, and of how to assess the scientific productivity of researchers.
