The Transfer Prize is a prestigious award that we present annually together with UP Transfer GmbH at the University of Potsdam to outstanding scientists at the University of Potsdam. This award recognises their impressive achievements in translating research results into practice and the successful transfer of knowledge and technologies into society. It plays an important role in promoting knowledge and technology transfer and strengthening cooperation between science and business.

Winners

2024

In 2024, Potsdam Transfer and UP Transfer GmbH jointly awarded the Transfer Prize to geoscientist Dr. Gerold Zeilinger for his research with direct application relevance in the field of geological GIS/3D applications for the detection and quantification of surface changes, especially in mountains and their forelands. The visualization of landscape changes using AR in a real environment is of great benefit for disaster control and civil security. In addition, Dr. Gerold Zeilinger's research methods enable decisions in landscape planning and the concrete effects of landscape-altering projects to be predicted directly in the real landscape.

2023

As part of the New Year's reception of the President of the University of Potsdam Prof. Oliver Günther, Ph.D., we honoured together with UP Transfer GmbH on 25.01.2023 the diverse and outstanding transfer activities of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Ulrike Lucke, Professor for Complex Multimedia Application Architectures at the University of Potsdam, with the Transfer Award 2023.

Ulrike Lucke's research topic is educational technologies and their applications. Special attention is paid to the current joint project Bildungsraum Digital (BIRD): A research network coordinated by the University of Potsdam under the project management of Ms Lucke is developing a first reference prototype for a national and cross-institutional digital education platform, for all and with all, based on open source software.

2022

The transfer prize was awarded to Prof. Dr. Amitabh Banerji, Professor of Didactics of Chemistry, who, together with his team, transfers cutting-edge university research on current social science challenges directly into the chemistry curriculum at upper secondary level in an innovative and motivating way: The practical experiments and teaching materials, e.g. on topics such as energy generation and storage, make chemistry lessons vivid and lively.

2021

Together with UP Transfer GmbH, we awarded the Transfer Prize to Hans-Gerd Löhmannsröben, Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Potsdam and founder of the Innovation Competence Centre "innoFSPEC", at the New Year's Reception of the President of the University of Potsdam on 13 January 2021. Prof. Dr Löhmannsröben's work at the university is characterised by outstanding networking of basic and applied research in the field of photochemistry and photophysics, laser spectroscopy and optical sensor technology.
