Faculty Award for Outstanding Teaching

Call for applications for the Faculty Award for Outstanding (Online) Teaching at the Faculty of Science of the University of Potsdam for the academic year 2023/2024.

The Faculty Council of the Faculty of Science at the University of Potsdam is offering an award for special merits in and around (online) teaching at the faculty.

All students of the faculty are called upon to nominate teachers for this award until 31 March 2024. In addition, nominations by other teachers or self-nominations are also possible. A brief justification for the nomination is required. Commitments made in the context of teaching at the Faculty of Science at the University of Potsdam are eligible for the award.

Up to three prizes will be awarded. A total of up to 6,000 € in prize money is available. The prize money is subject to the budgetary regulations of the state and can therefore not be paid out to private individuals.

In the selection process, one or more of the following criteria must be met:

  1. Outstanding commitment to teaching, especially with regard to a competence-oriented orientation of the courses or development of creative approaches in teaching. The courses must have been evaluated.
  2. Development of a particularly well-structured and custom-fit module or custom-fit implementation of teaching content or special commitment to the conception and structuring of a study program.
  3. Design of a module that contributes in an exemplary manner to the teaching of key competences
  4. Special commitment to supporting and supervising students.

The jury appointed by the Faculty Council will select the award winner from the proposals.

Proposals for individuals are to be submitted via the online form (see below). The respective student council members select a maximum of 3 proposals per student council from the submitted proposals, which they forward to the Office of Studies and Teaching of the Faculty of Science. The jury appointed by the Faculty Council selects the award winner from the remaining proposals.
