Amit Loewenthal is a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Economics at the University of Potsdam. He holds Ph.D. in Public Policy from Tel Aviv University. His main fields of interest are labor economics and the political economy of violent conflicts, with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a case study of great significance. For his research, he has won the Yitzhak Rabin Award for research on peace and reconciliation and the Horowitz Institute doctoral scholarship in the field of economic and social development. His current project deals with the effect of political violence on child labor. He is also a participant in the Empirical Studies of Conflict's (ESOC) mentorship program and an ICPSR Summer Program scholar. Amit has worked with various NGOs and think tanks, such as the Israeli Democracy Institute and the Arab Economic Forum, and has published several policy papers dealing with solutions for reducing poverty and economic gaps.
