Call: R&I Fellowships

The European University Alliance EDUC supports research stays for researchers at all career stages (R1–R4) – from doctoral candidates to full professors – through the EDUC R&I Fellowships. The programme funds short- to medium-term mobility that strengthens exchange between the EDUC partner universities and their innovation ecosystems.

Call opens on: 1 December 2025
Duration: Rolling call – open until 1 November 2026 at the latest, or until the budget is exhausted

Purpose and Priorities of the Call

The fellowships support researchers in:

  • Getting to know new research and innovation environments
  • Acquiring skills that are difficult to access at their home institution
  • Building partnerships within the EDUC Alliance and its extended ecosystems (e.g. with companies, research institutes, NGOs)

The application must clearly explain how the planned activities contribute to these priorities.


Who Can Apply?

Eligible to apply are individual researchers at all career stages who:

  • Are employed by or affiliated with the University of Potsdam (including doctoral candidates) at the time of application and for at least 30 days after completing the stay
  • Obtain approval from their supervisor/manager if required

Duration of the Fellowships

  • Minimum 4 weeks, maximum 12 weeks
  • Must be carried out by 1 December 2026 at the latest
  • The planned duration must be appropriate and justified in the application

Eligible Costs

  • Travel, accommodation, and daily allowances (according to University of Potsdam regulations)
  • Other necessary costs, such as:
    • Consumables
    • Specific project-related expenses
    • Special needs (if justified in the application)

  • Application form (online via OpenUP)
  • Letter of Confirmation (from home institution)
  • Invitation Letter (from host institution + mentor)
  • Additional documents if applicable

  • Masaryk University (Czech Republic)
  • University of Pécs (Hungary)
  • Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University (Ukraine*)
  • University of Cagliari (Italy)
  • University of South-Eastern Norway (Norway)
  • University Jaume I (Spain)
  • University of Rennes (France)
  • Paris Nanterre University (France)
Organisations within the EDUC RegionsCompanies, research institutes, NGOs, and other organisations within the innovation ecosystems of the EDUC partners
International Academic Institutions Outside the EU

May also serve as host institutions under the following conditions:

  • Located outside the EU and outside the Horizon Europe–associated countries
  • Preferably in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs)
  • Possible only if scientifically justified and no EU restrictions apply

*Travel to Ukraine must comply with the current travel and safety regulations of the University of Potsdam.
