Theoretical Astroparticle Physics

Astroparticle Physics is a young area of research aiming to understand astrophysical phenomena involving energetic particles.

Particles may be accelerated at the shock fronts of supernova remnants to very high energies, escape, propagate through the Galaxy, and be observable at Earth as cosmic rays.

The spectrum of these cosmic particles show anomalies that suggest unconventional interpretations, such as signatures of dark matter.

These and other questions are being investigated by the research group Theoretical Astroparticle Physics at Potsdam University.
