Dr. Firas Al Laban promovierte in Informatik zum Thema Wissenmanagementsysteme, hat einen Master in Software-Engineering und einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Mathematik an der Universität Damaskus absolviert. Während seiner Tätigkeit als Dozent an verschiedenen Universitäten lehrte er einige Informatik- und Mathematikkurse. Er betreute auch Senior-Studenten, die an Gymnasien lehrten, sowie mehrere Schülerprojekte. Parallel zu seiner Lehrtätigkeit war er an vielen Forschungsprojekten beteiligt, die ihn zur Veröffentlichung und Teilnahme an verschiedenen internationalen Konferenzen führten. Seit Juni 2019 ist er Mitglied des Teams in Institut für Informatik und Computational Science als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Open-U Projekt an der Universität Potsdam.
