EDUCational Staff Week at the University of Paris Nanterre
From May 19 to May 22, 2026, the EDUCational Staff Week took place at the University of Paris Nanterre. Dr. Nora Swaboda, Pedagogical Engineer on the EDUC (European Digital UniverCity) team, and three instructors from the Center for Languages and Key Competences (Joanna Thomson and Theresa Gorman from the English Department, and Gabrielle Robein from the French Department) participated in the event. Over the course of four days, they had the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with their colleagues from the partner universities.
The first part of the meeting (on May 19 and 20) was devoted to language activities, and the second part (on May 21 and 22) to multidisciplinary online courses.
After an introductory session in which participants introduced themselves, their universities, and their involvement in the EDUC projects, they reflected together—drawing on their diverse experiences and specific multilateral projects—on how EDUC courses can promote intercultural experiences and multilingualism. The participants also addressed the issue of promoting these courses, their potential integration into degree programs, and their institutional recognition. Finally, the discussions focused on transdisciplinary courses, their added value, and the challenges such courses present for both teachers and students.
Our colleagues from Potsdam were delighted by the atmosphere on the Nanterre campus—a green campus located very close to Paris (thanks to the new transportation connections, the capital can be reached in just 30 minutes)—as well as by the warm welcome and professionalism of the team in Nanterre. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the EDUC team in Nanterre.
