Academic and Professional Career:

  • 1983-1988: Studied Sociology and Economics at Humboldt University of Berlin; received a diploma in 1988.
  • 1990-1993: Research Assistant at the University of Lüneburg in the DFG research project "Logistische Unternehmenssteuerung und Zulieferindustrie".
  • 1993-1999: Research Assistant at the University of Lüneburg in the field of Sociology of Education.
  • 1999: PhD on the topic of "Vertrauen in der zwischenbetrieblichen Kooperation" (Awarded the Dissertation Prize of the IHK Lüneburg/Wolfsburg).
  • 1999-2006: Research Assistant at Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg.
  • 2006-2007: Lecturer in Organizational Sociology, Military Sociology, and Gender Sociology at Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg and the German Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Hamburg.
  • 2007: Habilitation on the topic of "Organisation und Geschlecht am Beispiel des Militärs".
  • 2007-2010: Professor of Sociology with a focus on Organizational Sociology at Helmut Schmidt University/University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg.
  • Since 2010: Professor of Organizational and Administrative Sociology at the University of Potsdam.
