Mother and Child Nutrition

This was the first of three Summer Schools in the South East Asian Region under the bigger context of "Life Cycle Nutrition" and focused on the specific nutritional needs of pregnant and lactating women and children in the first 1000 days of life.

Objectives

The Summer School “Mother and Child Nutrition” promoted an interdisciplinary exchange between the participants in the field of nutrition, facilitated international scientific cooperation and qualified the participants in the field of international nutrition, with specific emphasis to child and mother nutrition before, during and after birth in emerging and developing countries.

The Summer School

  • fostered exchange of experiences, established international networks between the participants, scientific discourse with regard to mother and child nutrition and international academic cooperation in this field
  • eased learning through interactive and case‐related practical exercises
  • gave participants the opportunity to discuss individual questions with experts
