Lectures

Winter term 2023/24:

Physical processes in astrophysics:

* Master of Science Astrophysics, module PHY-735 *                                                                           * Master of Science Physics, modules 731, 732 *

This course is designed to introduce the physical processes in Astrophysics, particularly basic MHD and plasma processes in astrophysical environments. This area has been among the most rapidly developed ones in astrophysics. It has been recognised as one of the fundamental blocks of the knowledge that is necessary for the understandings of various astrophysics phenomena. Topics range from charged particles, high-energy cosmic rays, gas dynamics, interstellar and intergalactic medium magnetohydrodynamic processes, etc.

Research projects for Master students (by arrangement)

  • Introductory project Astrophysics: The students select an upper-level seminar and an introductory project in the same topic area. The toopic of the introductory project generally corresponds to their specialization area for their Master´s thesis.                                                                                                                                                               * Master of Science Physics, modules 941, PHY941 *                                                                   * Master of  Science Astrophysics, module PHY-941 *
  • Research training Astrophysics: The students carry out a supervised independent study and a guided lab in the field of the Master´s thesis. The supervision and guidance are provided in regular consultations with the supervisor(s).                         >   Friday  12:00 - 14:00 / Golm, Bldg. 28, Room 2.28.1.024                                                                                                                                                                                                                         * Master of Science Physics, modules 942, PHY942 *                                                                    * Master of Science Astrophysics, module PHY-942 *
