Inclusion Café

The Inclusion Café is a place where employees with impairments or mental and chronic conditions can meet and get support. It takes place regularly at all three university campuses.

In addition to the casual exchange, there is also the opportunity to receive specific advice from one of the Campus Inclusion Counsellors. Here, the peer-to-peer approach is followed, which means that both counsellor and the person seeking advice have experienced an impairment. This shared experience helps to increase mutual identification and to create a safe space for the conversation, so that you as the person seeking advice, with all your concerns, fears, and experiences, can be understood and taken seriously in a special way. The Campus Inclusion Counsellors show that they have managed to acknowledge their own impairment and handle everyday life and this way demonstrate how to accept and deal with it. Understanding sometimes helps more than mechanic solutions. Come by and get to know the Inclusion Café over a cup of coffee and a sweet snack!

My name is Kirsten Sachse. I work as a laboratory assistant in biological physics. As I have personal experience with a chronic inflammatory and psychosomatic condition, I know how difficult it can be to balance everyday life and work. Since 2012 I am a committed confidant at Potsdam University. I would like to use my experience to solve problems together. "You can never solve problems with the same way of thinking that created them." Quote Albert Einstein.

Consultation hours: Wednesday: 14:00 - 15:00 & Friday: 12:00 - 14:00

My name is Beatrice Grünberg and I work in the administrative field of Potsdam University for many years. Therefore, I know the structures of the university very well. Among other conditions, I suffer from a hearing impairment. Through my own experiences with this impairment in everyday life, I would like to support other people with impairments through conversation. In particular I can help you to find topic-specific advice centres.
