We are an interdisciplinary team that, in research and teaching, deals with how schools address student heterogeneity and inclusive schooling as well as related school development processes.

- 01.04.2026: Social diversity encourages mutual support between groups and can help to reduce educational inequality – but it is actual interactions that are key.
- 01.04.2026: We bid farewell to Rebecca Wetter, who has been working as a research assistant on our MuHiK project.
- 01.04.2026: Representatives from school administration and teaching staff came together for the workshop (27 February 2026) to discuss diversity in the classroom.
- 01.04.2026: Ethnic diversity has little impact on networks: despite ethnic homophily, social cohesion in school classes remains largely stable.
- 08.04.2026: On 25 March 2026, we held a discussion with MuDiRe’s practice partners on the question: “How can diversity be harnessed in democracy education?”
- 08.04.2026: In the study, researchers succeeded in reproducing the results of 54% of the published articles using the original data.
- 13.04.2026: The MuHiK project presents findings on multidimensional heterogeneity within the University of Potsdam’s journal “Portal”.
- 23.04.2026: Rebecca Wetter is interviewed on the University of Potsdam podcast on the topic of diversity in the classroom and provides insights into the project’s research.

- 09.10.2025: Svenja Hascher gave a presentation titled " Social Processes in Heterogeneous Classrooms: Links to Classroom Composition and Teaching " at the Conference for Educational Psychology (PAEPS) in Jena.
- 13.10.2025: Martin Bücher is participating in the Innovative Teaching Projects at the University of Potsdam with a block seminar in the 2025/26 winter semester.
- 29.10.2025: Prof. Lorenz, Dr. Neuendorf und Prof. Rjosk (MuHiK project) published the preprint of a paper on the measurement of multidimensional heterogeneity in the classroom
- 04.11.2025: In January a new project starts on multidimensional diversity as a resource of cooperative learning in digital & analogous learning settings (MuDiRe).
- 14.11.2025: Rebecca Wetter presented on the relationship between measured and perceived classroom heterogeneity and its implications for educational outcomes.
- 14.11.2025: The MuHiK team presented the project's research findings and transfer strategies to other junior research groups in empirical educational research.
- 21.11.2025: ZIM and MuHiK have jointly produced a video explaining what multidimensional classroom heterogeneity is and how it can be effectively measured.
- 30.11.2025: We say goodbye to Svenja Hascher as an academic staff member in our MuHiK project.
- 30.11.2025: The work area was awarded first place in the Inclusion Prize for its idea of making the accessibility of rooms directly visible in PULS.

- 17.12.2025: Schotte, Edele, Heppt, Rjosk, & Stanat published research on perceived discrimination of students from minoritized ethnic groups.

16. -18.10.2024: Claudia Neuendorf presented a poster with results from the MuHiK-project at the LEAD-retreat October 16th-18th in Schwäbisch-Gmünd.

The Professorship of School Development welcomes two new employees as of October 15, 2023. On the one hand, Ms. Emily Waap supports the Professorship as a research assistant and on the other hand, Mr. Martin Bücher (M.A.) strengthens the Professorship as an academic employee in teaching and research.

We are delighted to welcome two new employees to the School Development department on October 1, 2023. Theresa Mros (M.Ed. & M.A.) is doing her doctorate on the importance of identification with the culture of origin and host culture for learning and professionalization processes in the school context and is strengthening our work area in teaching and research. We also welcome Annika Scheerer, who supports our work area as a research assistant, especially with regard to improving the quality of teaching. Welcome!
