The professorship of Global History invites you to attend a book talk by Winship Distinguished Research Professor of History Mariana Candido (Emory University, American Academy in Berlin, Institute for Advanced Studies, Princeton). Prof. Candido will speak about her new book Wealth, Land, and Property in Angola, published with Cambridge University Press in September 2022. She delves into the complex history of deprivation, consumption and disparity in West Central Africa. By integrating various academic perspectives, such as the history of slavery, land ownership, and gender roles in West Central Africa, Candido provides valuable insights and pushes for the decolonization of historiography.
