Range of methods

Methods

The department has the expertise for the following list of methods (selection):

Protein analytics

  • Colorimetric protein quantification (e.g. Bradford, BCA)
  • ELISA for specific protein quantification: in-house development and validation, e.g. Gc-globulin, retinol binding protein 4, transthyretin, Tamm-Horsfall protein
  • 1D- and 2D-polyacrylamid gel electrophoresis with subsequent visualization of proteins by immunoblotting, silver nitrate or coomassie staining
  • Dot-Blot
  • Protein identification by enzymatic digestion (in-gel-digestions, in-solution-digestion) and MALDI-TOF-MS
  • Characterization of protein modifications by MALDI-TOF-MS (e.g. subsequent to immunoprecipitation)

Lipids and lipophilic substances

  • HPLC: Quantification of carotenoids, retinol, retinyl esters and vitamin E metabolites
  • LC-MS/MS: Quantification of vitamin D metabolites
  • Thinlayer chromatographie of neutral and phospholipids
  • Ultracentrifugation for the separation of lipoproteins

Aminothiol analysis

  •  HPLC
