PhD-Workshop "Biases and Heuristics in Information Processing and Decision Making"

Politicians, managers, investors, negotiators, researchers, and private citizens continuously receive new information. They incorporate this information into their beliefs and make decisions based on these beliefs. In this one-day workshop, PhD students will obtain an overview of the most important biases and heuristics that influence individuals’ information processing and decision making. Based on this knowledge, they will discuss how these biases might relate to their current and upcoming PhD research projects.

The workshop aims at fostering discussions among PhD students and generating new perspectives and potential research ideas in their respective fields. Given the overarching relevance of information processing and decision making, all PhD students from business, economics, social science, and related fields are welcome to join. If they are interested, PhD students can also present their existing research projects on information processing and decision making to obtain feedback. In this case, they should state so in their registration.

The workshop is offered by Prof. Dr. Hannes Mohrschladt and will take place on June 12 from 9 AM to 5 PM at Potsdam’s Campus Griebnitzsee (Building 1, Room 2.31). Interested PhD students can register for this workshop via email (hannes.mohrschladtuuni-potsdampde) until May 27 or until all participation slots have been filled. Participants will receive a detailed workshop schedule after the registration deadline.
